Wren

The Wren family of birds comprises some 88 species, most of which inhabit Australia and New Zealand.

While Eruasian wrens are brown, the 'new world' species found in Australia are vivid in colour. For example, there are 10 beautiful species of fairy-wren that are found in various parts of Australia, all with different blue and red colourings.

Wrens are not only popular among ornithologists but are also a popular subject of fine art. In fact, a national poll conducted in 2013 revealed that the fairy-wren is Australia's favourite bird, ahead of the Kookaburra.
